Now days, security and defense organizations of most of the countries
across the world are using polygraph systems to interrogate with the suspects
and criminals. Polygraph systems are mostly referred as lie detection systems.
These instruments are actually used for monitoring the physiological reactions
of individuals. This implies that polygraph systems never detect lies. Instead,
polygraph machines or devices are only used to detect the display of deceptive
behavior in individuals. Now, I will give a brief description about the
function of polygraph instruments. Basically, polygraph instrument is
combination of some medical instruments, which are perfectly suitable in
monitoring frequent changes occurring in our body.
At the time of interrogation regarding any particular incident or event,
examiner with the help of lie detection systems observe different reactions of
individuals. These include rate of heart beat, respiratory rate, blood pressure
and electro-dermal activity and any other changes from regular levels of
individuals. The fluctuations are considered as indication of deceptiveness of
individuals. However, exam results remain clearly open for interpretation by
examiners. Other than this, when I was on my trip to Israel, I have observed emotion
detection machines of Amir Liberman. These machines are actually based
on latest and advanced LVA technology and are mostly used by security and defense
organizations of Israel. Just like people are using the common mobile accessories
such as mobile speakers, Bluetooth headsets, keyboards etc, similarly there are
many departments who are making the use of LVA technology for investigation
purposes.
