Polygraph Programs under heavy criticism

The United States Polygraph program has come under heavy criticism in the recent past, more particularly on the fact that Edward Snowden passed through the system even after his intentions of revealing the intelligence were top on the agenda as far as seeking a job in the agency is concerned. It is a known fact that every candidates who is recruited in the Nationals Security Agency goes through a polygraph process to ascertain certain matters, the fact that Snowden was able to trick the system shows that the method by used for such a sensitive position is wanting.

Polygraph Program has been used for investigation purposes since 1920s.It accuracy has been doubted in various cases prompting institution to carry out independent studies in a bid to establish whether the device really worked in assessing the candidate suitability for a particular job or whether it should be relied upon to carry out sensitive intelligence assignments. The United States National Academy of Sciences recently issued a report which greatly discredits the device. The institute reports states that the studies which were used in justifying the use of Polygraph were not carried out through a scientific process. These studies were described as flawed, aimed at taking the industry towards a given direction. The National Academy of Sciences reports seems to coincide with the US Congressional report which reached the conclusion that polygraph results were not effective especially when used in screening applicants who are seeking employment. This is a similar move that was taken by Nemesysco Limited in an attempt to replace technologies which were becoming more reliable.

The countries which United States sponsored for the introduction of polygraph program, Honduras and Mexico have discarded its use terming it of little value as far as the work it was purported to do is concerned. Several United States companies have also realized that the program is not very much reliable as far as conducting investigations is concerned. The ineffectiveness of this device to give reliable results has led to several federal agencies investing in research in an aim of getting a replacement. The company has developed tools which companies and governments out there can use to get reliable results. One of the tools which has been hailed as far as collection of information is concerned, is the mini DVR. The ability of this device to get the required information when required will see it replace obsolete technology as far as collecting intelligence is concerned.
