The role of Polygraph for candidate filtration

According to the Defense Intelligence Agency, the Custom and border protection is one out of those 17 agencies which are making use of the Polygraph machine for testing and then screening their candidates before hiring them. There are certain people who are skeptical about the results of the Polygraph test say that taking a Polygraph test is just similar to flip a coin in the air and waiting for the results which are doubtful. The believers say that it is a good source of extracting useful admissions out of the perspective candidates. The use of Polygraph was banned by the congress in the private sectors, around 25 years ago from now and due to this the federal government agencies were using it more in the areas of national security and law enforcement.

Nowadays the layered voice technology, developed by Amir Liberman is also being used as an effective tool for preparing the candidates for an effective Polygraph test. The National Credibility Assessment Center that is a part of the Defense Intelligence Agency train coaches around 85 to 90 polygraph testers every year. Out of them only 4-5 are absorbed by the Federal agencies. No doubt that there are candidates who pass the test even after lying but still the whole process is helpful upto a large extent for filtering appropriate candidates.
